Server settings

Use these values for every Skyline Mail mailbox, whatever your domain is:

SettingValue
UsernameYour full email address, for example name@yourcompany.com
PasswordYour mailbox password
Incoming mail (IMAP)mail.alskyline.com, port 993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP)mail.alskyline.com, port 587 with STARTTLS, or port 465 with SSL/TLS. Authentication required, with the same username and password.
Exchange ActiveSyncServer mail.alskyline.com, domain left empty (Pro and Business plans)
Webmailmail.alskyline.com in any browser

Type the server as mail.alskyline.com, not mail.yourcompany.com. The security certificate is issued for mail.alskyline.com, so any other name makes the device warn that it “cannot verify the server identity”.

ActiveSync or IMAP?

  • Exchange ActiveSync syncs mail, calendar and contacts in one account, and new mail is pushed to the phone. It is included in the Pro and Business plans. Choose it on the iPhone (“Microsoft Exchange”) and in Android mail apps (“Exchange”). Outlook on a computer does not use it.
  • IMAP and SMTP work on every plan, including Lite, in any mail app. They sync mail and folders only, not calendar or contacts.

Your administrator can also switch ActiveSync off for individual mailboxes in the Skyline Cloud console. If an Exchange setup is refused, ask them, or use IMAP.

Outlook on Windows and Mac

Outlook on a computer connects to Skyline Mail with IMAP and SMTP, on every plan. Set the account up as IMAP; do not choose Exchange or Microsoft 365.

Classic Outlook for Windows

  1. Select File › Add Account and enter your full email address.
  2. Open Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually, and select Connect.
  3. Choose IMAP. Enter incoming mail mail.alskyline.com, port 993, encryption SSL/TLS, and outgoing mail mail.alskyline.com, port 587, encryption STARTTLS.
  4. Select Next, enter your mailbox password, and finish.

New Outlook for Windows and Outlook for Mac

  1. Go to Settings › Accounts › Add account (on a Mac: Outlook › Settings › Accounts, then +) and enter your full email address.
  2. When Outlook asks for the account type or provider, choose IMAP.
  3. Enter your password and the incoming and outgoing server settings from the table above, then continue.

Send yourself a test message, and reply to it from webmail to check both directions.

iPhone and iPad

Option 1: the Skyline Mail app

Install the Skyline Mail app from the App Store (listed as “Skyline Cloud Mail”) and sign in with your email address and password.

Option 2: the built-in Mail app with Exchange (Pro and Business)

  1. Open Settings › Apps › Mail › Mail Accounts › Add Account (on iOS 17 and earlier: Settings › Mail › Accounts › Add Account).
  2. Choose Microsoft Exchange, enter your email address, then tap Next.
  3. Tap Configure Manually, enter your password, and if asked for a server, enter mail.alskyline.com with your full email address as the username.
  4. Choose what to sync (Mail, Contacts, Calendars) and tap Save.

Option 3: the built-in Mail app with IMAP (every plan)

  1. In Add Account, choose Other › Add Mail Account.
  2. Enter your name, email address and password, then tap Next and choose IMAP.
  3. For both Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server, enter host name mail.alskyline.com, your full email address as the user name, and your password.
  4. Tap Next, then Save.

Android

Menus differ slightly between phone makers. These steps use the Gmail app, which is installed on most Android phones; Samsung Email and Outlook for Android ask for the same details.

  1. Open Gmail, tap your profile picture, then Add another account.
  2. Choose Exchange and Microsoft 365 if your plan includes ActiveSync, or Other for IMAP.
  3. Enter your email address and tap Manual setup. For IMAP, choose Personal (IMAP).
  4. Enter your password. When asked for servers, use mail.alskyline.com: port 993 with SSL/TLS for incoming mail, and port 587 with STARTTLS (or 465 with SSL/TLS) for outgoing mail. For Exchange, the server is mail.alskyline.com with SSL/TLS on.
  5. Choose how often to sync and finish the setup.

If it does not connect

  • “Username or password incorrect”: the username is your full email address, not just the part before the @. Sign in to webmail to confirm the password works.
  • “Cannot verify server identity”: the server name is wrong. Use exactly mail.alskyline.com.
  • Outlook keeps asking for the password or offers Exchange: remove the account and add it again as IMAP, entering the server settings by hand.
  • The phone cannot find the Exchange settings: the domain may be missing its autodiscover record. Check the DNS step in setting up email on your own domain, or enter mail.alskyline.com as the server by hand.
  • Receiving works but sending fails: some networks block one of the outgoing ports. Switch between 587 (STARTTLS) and 465 (SSL/TLS), and make sure outgoing authentication is on.
  • Mail syncs but calendar and contacts do not: the account was added with IMAP, which carries mail only. Add it again as Exchange (Pro and Business plans).
  • Exchange setup is refused: the mailbox is on the Lite plan or ActiveSync is switched off for it. Use IMAP, or ask your administrator.
